Cas started as CEO of BUSA on 1 April 2020 after retiring as Managing Director of The Banking Association SA (BASA) after serving for 15 years. He was instrumental in positioning BASA as one of the leading business organisations in SA and a credible voice for the banking industry.

Ms. Anastasia Soula Proxenos

Ms. Anastasia Soula Proxenos has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services sector and has worked for some of the largest financial services companies in Africa and the United States. She founded a private equity fund in Africa and was formerly managing director of International Housing Solutions, where she led the effort to create the South African Workforce Housing Fund. Prior to that, for seven years she served as managing director of Fannie Mae’s International Housing Financial Services.

Ms. Proxenos was an adjunct professor at John Hopkins Carey Business School and at John Hopkins University School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She is also an independent non-executive director of African Finance Corporation (AFC), First Housing Finance (FHF), FINCA, and Norsad.

Barry Conlin

Barry has a significant exposure in financing all traditional Property asset classes including hospitality and leisure, storage, medical and educational.

Conlin has vast experience in assisting clients to conform to public and private tender proposals. This is primarily within the auspices of an NDA agreement.

He also represented the Bank at a regional MANCO level, contributing towards regional strategy and ensuring adherence to financial and time-based targets.

Daniel Siopao Ndara

Mr. Daniel Siopao Ndara is currently the General Manager of Finance and Administration at the Government Institutions Pension Fund in Windhoek, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the Fund’s strategic direction and contributes to the Corporate Strategic Scorecard, guiding the implementation of departmental strategies.

Ndara has a keen eye for financial control and improvement and provides valuable guidance on Accounting Processes and Systems. He also served in the Social Security Commission sector where he provided operational strategic development and implementation.

Emil Sierczynski

Emil Sierczynski co-leads the healthcare and social infrastructure investment activities of IFU in Southern Africa and India. IFU is the Danish development finance institution and Denmark’s leading impact investor. IFU manages 1.8bn USD of capital and functions as the fund manager for the Danish SDG Fund (DSDG), a fund combining private capital from Nordic institutional investors and public capital from the Danish government. Through its investments, IFU aims to build greener and increasingly just and inclusive economies in emerging markets.

Emil sits on several boards of IFU investees and contributes with a background within impact investing, private equity, and M&A.

Motlasi Mutlanyane

Motlatsi has over 25 years’ experience in the investment management industry in various roles, from advisory to portfolio management. He heads Momentum Alternative Investments which manages hedge funds and private markets portfolios for Momentum Investments. He is also portfolio manager responsible for Impact Portfolios strategies.

Motlatsi joined RMB Asset Managers, later Momentum Investments, in 2008 as a portfolio manager of multi-strategy portfolios. Prior to that, he was an Investment Consultant with Willis Towers Watson (UK).

Shafeeq Abrahams
